AggieCentral is a student-produced news Web site for the Cameron University community.

Excepting Letters to the Editor and User Comments, all content published through AggieCentral is produced by the Editorial Staff of AggieCentral.com, CUTV and The Cameron Collegian. All content and publishing decisions are made through the AggieCentral editorial staff or the editorial staff of the respective student media that produced the content.

The opinions expressed in AggieCentral stories, videos or personal columns are those of the signed or stated author. Unsigned editorials under the heading Our Voice, or clearly marked as editorial content, represent the opinion of the majority of the editorial board and the signed authors. The opinions expressed within the AggieCentral site do not necessarily represent those of Cameron University or the state of Oklahoma.


User Comment Policy

The Editorial Staff and Faculty Advisers of AggieCentral believe this convergent news site to be a natural evolution of traditional print media and, as such, assert that as a student media it is afforded the same underpinning admonishments and protections.

The Editorial Staff and Faculty Advisers strive to promote an environment where civil presentation and discussion of issues pertinent to our community thrives. Individual respondents to AggieCentral content are responsible for the content of their postings. Information posted by individual respondents is not endorsed by AggieCentral, The Cameron Collegian, CUTV, KCCU or Cameron University.

User comments are moderated and will not appear immediately on the site. All comments to AggieCentral may be reviewed by the Editorial Staff and the Faculty Advisers. AggieCentral reserves the right to refuse or remove any comment that does not comply with these guidelines. By utilizing the interactive features of AggieCentral.com, users agree to be bound by these terms:

-Any use of the comments area to promote personal blogs, Web sites, advertisements or other solicitations is prohibited.

-All AggieCentral visitors will abide by federal laws and will not encourage others to engage in illegal or unlawful acts.

-All comments should be relevant to the content under which they are posted.

-Content may not be illegal, defamatory, libelous or threatening.

-Reproduction of AggieCentral content without authorization is prohibited.

The AggieCentral editorial staff reserves the right to block comments based on spam or continued postings of content aimed at harassing or libeling other users or AggieCentral editors.

-AggieCentral.com reserves the right to refuse or remove any comment that does not comply with these guidelines.

Comments on AggieCentral.com allow you to share you thoughts and opinions with others. Here are a few things to consider as you post:

  • Be considerate and respectful of fellow posters and original authors.
  • Avoid using unnecessary profanity, obscenities and abusive language.
  • Comments should not harass, threaten another person’s safety or property, contain false statements or defame or impersonate another individual.
  • Use plain and proper English with correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Avoid using ALL CAPS.
  • Remember that any comment easily can be misinterpreted. Utilize good judgment in posting ambiguous statements.

 

AggieCentral Editors and Advisers always will adhere to the Society of Professional Journalist Code of Ethics in determining content for the site. We strive to uphold the same standards in vetting user-posted material and will exercise due judgment in exercising any prior restraint regarding posts.

We reserve the right to change the terms of this agreement or to modify the features of this site.
