Weather shuts down campus and Collegian

Due to inclement weather conditions throughout Southwest Oklahoma, Cameron University shut down campus after 12:30 p.m. on March 4 and all day March 5.

Weather forecasts on the morning of March 4 predicted below-freezing temperatures and an accumulation of snow, sleet and freezing rain. While students were in class, the wintery mix began to fall.

Around 11:30 a.m., while classes while still in session, students received a phone call from Senior Director of Public Affairs Josh Lehman announcing that campus would close after 12:30 p.m.

Snow continued into the night, accumulating as temperatures remained below freezing. For this reason, students received another call from Lehman on the evening of March 4 to announce that campus would be closed the next day.

Due to closures resulting from the unsafe road and weather conditions, many campus services and activities were cancelled, including the production and publication of The Cameron University Collegian.

Since the cancellations ceased the production of the newspaper, the next issue of The Cameron University Collegian will come out March 23. Content generated for the canceled issue will be available on AggieCentral.com by the evening of March 10th.
